Write for us
Open Arts Journal welcomes thoughtful pitches and contributions about art and creative practice. We value clear ideas, careful observation and writing that gives readers a way into a subject.
What to propose
We are interested in original work about form, materials, process, traditions and interpretation across the arts. A strong pitch identifies one specific subject, explains the central question or insight, and shows why it suits curious readers without assuming specialist knowledge.
What makes a good piece
Keep the scope focused and the language direct. Support factual claims, separate what can be observed from what you infer, and explain any specialist terms that are needed. We welcome fresh approaches, but a pitch should not rely on invented experience or promise access it cannot provide.
Send a proposal
Send your proposal through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a short summary, the intended focus and a few lines about your approach. Please send a proposal before preparing a full draft; submission does not guarantee publication.
Looking closely opens more doors
A detail can change how a work reads. We make room for careful observation, useful context and more than one thoughtful response.
